It’s official...Calhoun County is the safest place to live in the state of Florida!
Governor Charlie Crist and Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Gerald Bailey announce the state’s 2009 Annual Uniform Crime Report last week. In addition to having the lowest rate, crimes in Calhoun County dropped a remarkable 33.7%.
“I believe the decrease is directly attributable to the consistent and aggressive work of my deputies and our criminal justice partners to include the State Attorney’s Office and the Court,” says Sheriff David Tatum.
The report shows Calhoun County had two murders, one rape, 13 aggravated assaults, 28 burglaries, 70 larcenies, and three motor vehicle thefts.
