Both the varsity and J.V. Lady Tigers split two games last week.

BHS traveled to Bonifay Mar. 12 to play what Coach Bubba Johnson describes as their “worst game of the year.” They were defeated, 13-1.

“We had our #4 and #5 batters home with a stomach virus, so that didn’t help much either,” says Coach Johnson.

Brittany Griffin took the loss on the mound. At the plate, Anna Kelley, Randa McCroan, and Ann Marie Silcox each had a single.

The girls were ready to play on March 15 when Cottondale came calling. The Lady Tigers sent them packing, 10-6.

Griffin was the winning pitcher, improving her record to 7-5.

Leading hitters were Kelley with a double and two singles; Montoya Garrett with three singles and a walk; Brittney Brown with two singles; and McCroan with a triple. Silcox, Selena Williams, Lindsey Doyal, and Griffin each had a single.

The win put the varsity girls at 7-5 overall and 2-5 in the district.

In J.V. action, the girls were edged by Holmes County, 7-6. Courtney McFarland was on the mound for the Tigers and took the loss. Leading hitters were Kelsey Bontrager, McFarland, and Marysa Lee with two singles each. Lee also had three RBIs.

The tables were turned against Cottondale with the J.V. girls from BHS sliding past them, 3-2. McFarland got the win with 10 strikeouts and no earned runs.

At the plate, Lauren Blackburn had a double, and two walks. Lee and Shayla Chason also had singles.

“Chason scored on a passed ball with two outs in the bottom of the fifth to provide the win,” says Coach Johnson.

The J.V. girls boast an 8-3 record.

The Lady Tigers took on South Walton Monday and Sneads Tuesday (details unavailable at press time). They host Bozeman Thursday with game time at 4 p.m. for J.V., followed by varsity at 6 p.m. They will be in Vernon Monday give the game times the same, then take the rest of the week off for Spring Break.
