It was two out of three for the Blountstown Lady Tigers last week as they defeated Malone twice and lost to Graceville.

The BHS girls faced Malone last Monday and shut them out, 18-0, in three and a half innings. Brittany Griffin was the winning pitcher. At the plate, Lindsey Doyal had two singles, a walk, and an RBI. Selena Williams had a single, two walks, and four RBIs. Genny Starr had a single, a walk, an FC, and three RBIs.

On a very chilly Tuesday, the Lady Tigers lost to Gracville, 17-7. “They were just cold and didn’t play well,” says Coach Bubba Johnson.

Griffin took the loss on the mound. Brittany Brown relieved her in the fifth inning. Offensively, Anna Kelly had three singles and two runs scored. Williams, Starr, and Ambur Burch all had two hits.

The Lady Tigers took on Malone again Friday and defeated them, 21-2, scoring 10 of those runs in the fifth inning.

Griffin was the winning pitcher, improving her record to 3-1. “Malone walked 17 and hit seven batters,” Coach Johnson remarks.

Brown and Williams each had two hits and two RBIs for the Tigers. Burch had a single, two walks, and three RBIs. Griffin had a single, two walks, and three RBIs.

“Defensively, on in-field, we’ve been doing good,” says Coach Johnson. “Lindsey is improving on catching.”

In J.V. action, the Lady Tigers defeated Malone last Monday, 11-3. Courtney McFarland was the winning pitcher. Kimberly Jenks had a single and two RBIs. Randa McCroan had a single, two walks and two RBIs. McFarland had two walks and an RBI.

Against Graceville, the J.V. girls won 19-5 with McFarland getting the win on the mound. At the plate, Shayla Chason had a double and a single. Kelsey Bontrager had two singles and three runs scored. Lauren Blackburn had two singles and a walk.

In Friday’s game against Malone, the J.V. team improved their record to a perfect 3-0 with a 19-2 win. Ten of their runs were scored in the first inning. McFarland was the winning pitcher once again. Bontrager, Blackburn, and Kassie Wood brought in two hits a piece.

The Lady Tigers are holding several fundraisers. They are selling Boston butts, signs on the field, and discount cards with deals at 20 local businesses. See any player or Coach Johnson to help them out.
