Tiger fans were on the edge of their seats Saturday night for one of the most exciting playoff games ever played in the BHS gym. The Tigers made it to the district championship game against Graceville that wound up in overtime. When the final buzzer sounded, Graceville came out on top, 57-53.

Earlier in the week, the Tigers defeated Bonifay in the first round, 48-45. Leon Broxton led that game with 30 points. Next up was Cottondale with the Tigers taking a 60-55 win. P.J. Buggs was the high scorer for BHS, bringing in 16 points.

The win over Cottondale secured the Tigers a spot in the district championship where they met Graceville on the court. After battling four quarters, the game was tied and went into overtime. The Tigers fought hard, but Graceville took the lead and wound up clinching the title.

“We played a good game, just didn’t quite finish,” says BHS Coach Tony Davis. “We missed too many free throws - we were six for 17 from the free throw line.”

Broxton led BHS with 21 points, followed by Paul Mosley with 12.

As runners up in the district, the Tigers are in the regional playoffs and will head to Pensacola Christian Thursday with game time at 7 p.m. A fan bus is going to Pensacola. Anyone wishing to ride, the cost is $10. Stop by the BHS office to reserve your seat and go cheer on the Tigers!
