A Marianna couple was busted in Liberty County on numerous meth charges following an undercover investigation involving three agencies.

Josh R. Patrick, 35, and Tara Nicole Carver, 24, were each charged with delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) within 1000 feet of government housing, possession of meth with intent to sell, manufacture of meth, possession of listed chemicals, unlawful use of police communications, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, investigators monitored text messages between the suspects and a confidential informant, arranging a deal to deliver meth in exchange for four boxes of pseudo ephedrine. The suspects arrived at the informant’s home with Carver, the driver, remaining in the vehicle, and Patrick entering the residence. Investigators watched and listened, then arrested the couple after the transaction was completed. A search of their vehicle turned up a camouflage backpack containing components of a meth lab such as solvents and binders, along with plastic containers of liquids in various stages of the manufacturing process. A police scanner, small container of meth, and a Coleman stove were also discovered.

Investigators from three agencies took part in the case. They included Inv. Todd Wheetley, Inv. Brian Bateman, and Major Steve Swier of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Inv. Mark Mallory and Capt. Michael Bryant of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, and Inv. Billy Buckhalt and Inv. Robbie Maxwell of the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office.
