ALTHA, JANUARY 12--Trailing 21-17 at the end of the third quarter, the Junior Varsity Wildcats’ shooting went south at the beginning of the final stanza and the Munroe Bobcats pulled away to win, 36-25.

Tyler McClellan was the Top Cat in scoring with 10 points. He pulled down 2 rebounds and grabbed 2 steals. Kent Rogers put up 8 points, led his team with 3 assists, snagged a rebound and he had a steal. Ryan Wood put up 4 points, cleared 3 rebounds, and claimed an assist and a steal. Jeremy O'Bryan chipped in 2 points, led the Wildcats (2-8) with 5 steals, snared 3 rebounds and he was credited with an assist. Caleb Chew sank a free throw to round out the scoring, had an assist, a rebound and a steal.

It was the first time this season that the Wildcats (3-7; 2-5, Class 1A, District 2) never trailed in a game. Taking a 16-8 lead into the locker room, Altha came out and put up 17 third quarter points on the Bobcats to take a 33-21 advantage.

Tyler Hamilton led all scorers with 19 points and he cleared 8 rebounds and 5 steals. Jacob Warner cashed in 10 points (including his first 3-pointer of the season), cleared 4 rebounds and collected 3 steals. Will Rogers posted 8 points (including 2 from 3-point land) and he snagged 3 rebounds. Ryan Wood knocked down 8 points and led the team in rebounding with 7 and he was credited with a steal. Tyler McClellan came away with 3 points. Caleb Chew rounded out the scoring with 2 points; he collected 3 steals, and snared a rebound.
Unable to overcome FAMU's defensive press, the varsity Wildcats (3-8; 2-6, Class1A, District 2) fell 61-15 in a district match up.

Senior Ethan Ellis led the varsity in scoring with 10 points (including 2 3-pointers) and he led the team with 2 blocked shot attempts and he grabbed a rebound as well as a steal. Will Rogers scored 3 points the old fashioned way and he had a steal to his credit. Jacob Warner chipped in 2 points and he pulled down 3 rebounds. Tyler Hamilton led the team with 7 rebounds.

AUCILLA, JANUARY 15—In the last seconds of last Friday night’s game, Aucilla drew only iron with two shots in the lane that would have tied the score. Instead, the Altha’s Junior Varsity came home winners for the third time this season, 31-29.

Jae Fielder and Ryan Wood were the leading scorers in the game with 6 points apiece. Fielder ripped down career-high 7 rebounds. Wood cleared 3 rebounds, was credited with an assist and he had a steal. Kent Rogers knocked down 5 points and led the team with 5 steals. Also, he had an assist, blocked his first shot attempt of the season and grabbed a rebound. Both Caleb Chew and Tyler McClellan came away with 4 points each. Chew pulled down 5 rebounds, tallied an assist and had 3 steals. Corey Barton and Sharlyn Smith got in on the action by playing string music with their first 3-pointers of the season. Also, Smith claimed a rebound.

After trailing 33-26 after three quarters of play, the varsity Wildcats' defense locked down on the Aucilla Christian Warriors and held them to only 5 points in the final stanza. However, Altha’s offense came to life and scored a season-high 22 fourth quarter points to bring home a 47-38 victory.

Leading the varsity Wildcats (4-8; 3-6, Class 1A, District 2) in the scoring column was Will Rogers with 24 points (including 5 3-pointers). Also, he had 4 steals, 2 rebounds and an assist. Tyler Hamilton came away with 11 points, pulled down 8 rebounds, led his team with 6 steals and he had 2 assists. Jacob Warner added 7 points, had 4 steals and 2 rebounds. Friday the Liberty County Bulldogs come calling on the Wildcats. The JV contest begins at 5:30 pm (CT) and the varsity squads get underway at 7 pm (CT). The final game of this three-game home stand is Monday as Altha’s JV entertains Bethlehem at 6 pm (CT) and varsity action is slated for 7:30 pm (CT).
