QUESTION:
The debate rages on over health care reform as the political buzz is a final bill could reach President Obama's desk for signature before his State of the Union address in early February. What are your thoughts on this hot issue?
_________

OPEN DEBATE

Apparently the Democratic party does not believe the voter can deal with or understand the process of passing a bill. Obama promised the discussion surrounding this historic legislation would be open to the public (CSPAN) while asking for our support. When the time comes for him to keep his promise he changes his mind. At least he did tell us he was the candidate of change. If my congressman is there to protect my interest let him provide for us the same health care coverage that we provide for him.
-Merrill Traylor

--------------

Obama and the government need to keep their greedy, inefficient hands out of health care.
The big problem with health care is: When you're spending someone else's money, you don't care what health care costs.
It would be nice if we could get tax breaks for self-insurance plans (like health insurance IRAs). That way people pay their own health care and the younger, healthier people who don't use much, can be saving their money for when they get old enough to need it.
-Dr. Carol Sutton

In God we trust. Fire congress.
-James Grover

I am bitterly opposed to Socialized Medicine in any way, shape or form. I am opposed to Socialism in America. I do not know enough about Obamacare because the Congress has only allowed us to know what they want us to know. I am losing my doctor, whom I trust to take care of my health and the health of my children and grandchildren because of this Socialized Medicine. He is leaving his practice.
The only thing I know to do is to vote against everyone in Congress when their terms expire and vote in an entire new Congress. The present one has been disastrous. I have lost faith in my Congressman and my Senators. I hope everyone will realize who has brought us to this point and join me to vote out every member of Congress in Washington! We need new blood who will fight for America and what America stands for. I don't want to lose my freedoms.
-Betsy R. Knight

--------------

Why does the democratic party in congress continue to spend money we dont have on programs that we do not want (healthcare, cap/trade, etc). These are all good soundings programs if we can afford them. But we can’t afford them without going into generations of debt. We cannot tax our way to prosperity nor borrow ourselves out of debt.
-Brigham S. Shuler, Colonel, USA(ret)

--------------

Personally, I believe that our law makers are moving too fast on health care reform. A plan that would be gradually instituted over a five year period would be much easier for the American public and the economy to handle. We would also be able to catch errors and correct them prior to blazing forward in the dark, then crashing and burning.
-Peggy Howland

--------------------

I’ve said for a long time that I would vote for THAT awful bill when Obama & all of his buddies & congressmen will agree to have the same plan that they expect us to use. Of course, we know that they WILL NOT.
-Kay Weed

--------------

I usually avoid politics and religion, but, 3 thoughts: It is needed, It is being rushed, and a wise man once said that the one of the scariest phrases you can hear are, "Hi, I'm from the government, and I'm here to help."
-JK Newsome

--------------

There is more at stake than just healthcare. If this bill passes our freedom is at stake.
This is one step to take us to socialism. This bill is over 2000 pages that no one has read.
We were promised transparent no closed deals you keep what insurance you have.
What did we get.
1. No transparent no c span
2. bribes for votes
3. closed door deals
4 The only people who don't have to come under this healthcare bill is the President and Congress. They made an amendment.
According to the Congressional Record, Allen Boyd voted no on the house bill. At least he listened to we, the people.
Bill Nelson voted yes on the senate bill.
Thomas Jefferson once said, “When the people fear the government that is TYRANNY. When the government fears the PEOPLE that is LIBERTY.”
-Willard Smith

-------------------------

My thoughts are that we should vote out of office anyone who is now in a national office. Hope we can recover from the President trying to sink our country.
-Barbara Ellison

Before you criticize the President's Health Care Plan you should attempt to understand the Health Care Coverage which the average Federal Employee (Including the President and Congress) has. It is considered one of the best available. No you do not hear; and you will not hear any of them complaining about their Health Care Coverage. Actions speak louder than words! The President feels the average american citizen deserves what he deserves. So with being said, Sign me up Mr. President!
