Mr. David N. Barnett, 87, of Clarksville, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009, in Blountstown.
David was born on November 11, 1921, in Kempster, WI, and had lived in Calhoun County since 1961. He was a retired Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force with over 21 years of service. David was a WWII veteran and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a member of the American Legion, Am Vets and Woodmen of the World. Mr. Barnett was the last old State of Florida Prison Road Captain. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Barnett and his wife, Judy, of Baker, LA, Thomas Barnett and his wife, Mavis, of Tampa, Glen Barnett of Clarksville; one daughter, Faith Mears, and her husband, Billy, of Altha; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 31, at 5:00 p.m. (CT) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel in Blountstown with Rev. Marvin Nichols officiating. Interment followed in the Pine Memorial Cemetery in Blountstown with full military honors.
