Qualifying week ended Friday with two announcements in Calhoun County and one in Liberty.
Ronnie Williams, Sr., former Blountstown City Councilman, qualified to run for mayor. He will face incumbent Tony Shoemake.
Volena Barfield withdrew from the Calhoun County School Board District 2 race. Still vying for that seat are Ray Howell, Lynette Miller, Kevin O’Bryan and Jamie Strickland.
Over in Liberty County, Jeanie Whittaker Gargiulo (D), qualified to run for Superintendent of Schools. She will face David H. Summers and Rob Wheetley, both democrats.
The primary election is set for August 30. Early voting is August 15-30. You must register to vote by August 1 to cast your ballot i this election.
