Mrs. Ruth Perkins Stevens, 88, of Kinard, FL, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016, at her home.

She was born Tuesday, May 8, 1928, to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Perkins of Luverne, AL, and grew up in Plant City, FL. Ruth lived in Miami, FL, for a number of years, then moved to Wewahitchka, FL, in 1974 where she resided until her husband’s death in 2003, then in Kinard. She had a passion for reading, was a wonderful cook and was a member of the Baptist faith.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, James Buford Stevens; parents, Thomas and Annie Perkins; her brothers, O'Neil and Tom; and her sisters, Ann and Catherine.
Survivors include her nine children, Paulette Adams and husband, Richard, of Brandon, FL, Sarah Ann Carter of Zephryhills, FL, Ruby Charlene Heffelfinger and husband, Paul, of Zephryhills, FL, Linda Diane Simmons and husband, Paul, of Riverview, FL, Juan Alan Stevens and wife, Stephanie, of Niceville, FL, Gwendolyn Marie Cain of Kinard, Dale Eric Stevens of Panama City, FL, Mark Stevens and wife, Christy, of Wewahitchka, and Beverly Lorraine Parker and husband, Jim, of Blountstown, FL; 28 grandchildren, Tracy, Paul, Rayann, Mark, Hiedi, Scotty, Ricky, Ilene, Angela, Jennifer, Micheal, JV, Travis, Noah, Norah Lynn, Jeremy, Jamie, Erica, Bradley, Morgan, Chante', Whitney, Chris, Tyler, Jake, Branden, Ryan, and honorary grandson, Norman Terry; 40 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren; her twin sister, Ruby, of Apollo Beach, FL, and sister, Christine of Miami, FL.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 8, at 2:00 pm (CDT) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Claude McGill officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Memorial Cemetery in Blountstown. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 8, from 12:30 pm until service time at 2:00 pm (CDT) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel.

All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown (ph. 674-2266).
