David Forrester “Coach Dave” Woodham, 40, of Panama City Beach, FL, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009. He was born September 23, 1968, and was a lifelong resident of Panama City Beach.

David is survived by his wife, Lana Woodham, of 19 years; his son, Jake Woodham, of Panama City Beach; mother, Sharon E. Stone, of Panama City, FL; sister and brother, Stacey L. Johnson of Panama City, FL, and James “Bamm” Woodham of Panama City Beach, FL; brother and sister, Danny Woodham of Mobile, AL, and Lynn Woodham of Navarre, FL.; niece, Lauryn Doss, of Panama City Beach; nephew, Sean Johnson, of Panama City; and close friend, Tommy Chestnut, of Panama City.

David was preceded in death by one son, Stone Lake Woodham; his father, Danny O’Neal Woodham Sr.; grandparents, Nadine and B.H. Stone of Kinard, FL, and Mary Evelyn and Homer O’Neal Woodham of Dothan, AL.

David lived his life through his son, Jake, whom he proudly witnessed graduate from Arnold High School just days prior to his passing. David was loved and cherished by many and will be greatly missed. He was a leader. He influenced so many lives over the years as a substitute teacher. His true legacy, however, will go forward for all that knew him as a football coach for numerous Panama City Beach youth teams whose “boys” proudly refer to him as “Coach Dave”. Coach Dave was our rock. Coach Dave was our entertainer. Coach Dave loved and cherished each of those boys with all his heart.

David was a graduate of Carroll High School in Ozark, AL, and attended George C. Wallace Community College on a baseball scholarship. David’s chosen career was as a licensed real estate agent, but his passion was for sports and athletics, especially his devotion to the University of Alabama—Roll Tide!

The family will receive friends today, Wednesday, June 3, from 1-2 p.m. at Southerland Family Funeral Home and a “Celebration of Life” ceremony will follow at 2 p.m.

The family requests that memorial donations be made out to the “The Coach Dave Scholarship Fund” and mailed to P.O. Box 59950 Panama City, FL 32402 or drop it off at any People’s First Branch Bank. This is in the memory of David F. Woodham.

Expressions of sympathy may be submitted or viewed at www.southerlandfamily.com. All arrangements are under the direction of Southerland Family Funeral Homes, 100 East 19th Street, Panama City, ph. (850)785-8532.
