FROM KRISTY HALLEY TERRY
Chamber of Commerce Director

From a tree lighting to two parades, ‘tis the season in Calhoun County!

The Christmas season is kicking off in Calhoun County this weekend with a variety of activities the whole family is sure to enjoy.

Doris Traylor, named Calhoun County’s Citizen of the Year at the Chamber of Commerce banquet held earlier this year, will serve as grand marshal for the Blountstown parade. Although she is in her 80s, her youthful spirit defies her age. Doris has devoted countless hours serving the community through Keep Calhoun County Beautiful, the Torreya Garden Club, Blountstown Main Street, and First Baptist Church.

The Altha parade will be at 1 p.m. and the second parade will be in Blountstown at 5 p.m. The theme this year is “Candyland Christmas”. Line up for the Altha parade will be behind Altha Public School. Entries MUST be in place absolutely no later than 12:30 p.m. Line up for the Blountstown parade will be at Blountstown High School. If you would like for your entry to be judged, line up at 3:30 p.m. behind the BHS Field House in the stadium parking area. Judging will begin at 4:00 p.m. and the winners will be presented ribbons at 4:30 p.m. Non-judged entries should line up at 4:00 p.m. Attendants will direct participants to correct locations. 850-674-4519 or kristy@calhounco.org.

There will be only ONE Santa Claus in the parades!

I'm sorry if I missed it, but it seems that this story does not say what DAY the parade is to be held on. It only vaguely refers to "this weekend." Would that be Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?

Saturday as usual.
Story at bottom with Santa..."Santa is coming to town on Saturday"
