Virginia M. Newsome
Mrs. Virginia M. Newsome, 78, of the Frink Community, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016, in Panama City, FL.
Virginia was born on February 11, 1937, in the Frink Community to Peter McFarland and Lillie (Stockwell) McFarland. Virginia had lived in Calhoun County for all of her life. She was a teacher’s aide at Carr School for many years, and also worked with the Supervisor of Elections office. She was a member of the Baptist faith. She was a cheerleader for Frink School and graduated from Frink School in 1954.
Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, J.C. Newsome, of the Frink Community; one son, Terry Newsome, and wife, Rhonda, of the Frink Community; one daughter, Iva Watson, and husband, Bob, of Panama City; one brother, Ed Frank McFarland, of Port St. Joe, FL; one sister, Eunice Hill, and husband, Kelly, of Kinard, FL; four grandchildren, Jason Watson, Jessica Newsome, Ginnyfer Watson, and Kayla Tyus and husband, Ryan; one very special great-grandson, J.R. Tyus.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 20, at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 PM (CST) with Reverend Bill Mayo officiating. Interment will follow in McClellan Cemetery in Frink. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 19, from 6:00 PM (CST) until 8:00 PM (CST) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel.
All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown (ph. 674-2266).
