Lora Mae Guy, 98, of Blountstown, Florida, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015, in Blountstown.
She was born June 18, 1916, in Cottonwood, Alabama, to the late W. L. Holmes and Carla Gabrilla (Fears) Holmes. Ms. Lora and her late husband, Reverend J.C. Guy, moved to Blountstown in 1979, coming from East Tallassee, Alabama. She was a homemaker and was very active in church choir, teaching in Sunday school, working in Vacation Bible School, and missions.
Survivors include her son, Jerome Guy, and his wife, Myra, of Saraland, Alabama; three daughters, Rebecca Ann Holland and her husband, Richard, of Livingston, Alabama, Mary Elizabeth Schultz and her husband, Jacob “Sonny”, of Brazoria, Texas, and Virginia Williams and her husband, Laddie, of Blountstown; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a brother, W.T. Holmes, of Auburndale, Florida; and a sister, Lonnell Guy, also of Auburndale.
Funeral services for Ms. Lora were held in the Chapel of Adams Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, with Reverend Nicholas Hughes officiating. Interment followed in Williams Memorial Cemetery near Blountstown.
