Altha FCCLA attends state; several headed to nationals

Seventeen members of Altha’s FCCLA chapter competed at the 2015 Florida State Conference the first week of March.

The following competitors earned either a gold, silver or bronze medal for their event:
Hadley Barfield and Mallory Dalton-Focus on Children – Gold Medal – First place

Matthew Cantu and Levi Kimbrell –Promote and Publicize- Silver Medal – Second place

Alexis Scharlach – National Programs in Action – Gold Medal – First place

Allyson Mears – Recycle and Redesign – Silver Medal – Second place

Brooks Ann Mears – Black and White photo – Gold Medal

Jessica Moore – Illustrated Talk JR. – Silver Medal

Sky Pickron – Illustrated Talk SR. – Silver Medal

Madison Cutchen – Color Photo – Silver Medal

Tayler Chusko and Seth Wilson – Chapter in Action Scrapbook – Silver Medal

Enrico McCalvin, Kathrine Alderman and Cavan Hanna – Culinary Arts – Bronze Medal

Samuel Short – Black and White Sketch – Gold Medal

Rachel Wooten – Color Sketch – Gold Medal

Altha FCCLA advisors are pleased to announce that six participants are advancing to the national competition in July: Hadley Barfield, Mallory Dalton, Levi Kimbrell,

Alexis Scharlach, Matthew Cantu and Allyson Mears.

In addition to these competitors, Altha School is proud to have two students serving on the State Executive Council for the 2015-2016 school year. Collin Mears, a sophomore at Altha, was inducted and will be serving as the Florida Executive Council State President. In addition to his council presides, Altha Freshman Megan

Mantecon, who will be serving as Vice President of Management.

The 2015 National Leadership Conference will be held this summer in Washington D.C! Good luck everyone! We can’t wait to see what is in store for this year’s FCCLA.
