Current and former students and faculty, administrators and local leaders gathered in Altha Friday to break ground on a much-needed new school.
Senator Bill Montford and Representative Halsey Beshears presented the school with a flag that had flown over the state capital. Superintendent Ralph Yoder discussed the historic significance of the school and urged everyone to be patient during the construction process. The school is expected to be completed in time for the 2016 school year.
After a ceremony in the gym, the crowd moved outside for the official groundbreaking. Even little ones had a shovel to help commemorate the occasion.
