Notice of Residential Construction Mitigation Program (RCMP)
Fund Availability

Calhoun County has received $233,000 from the State of Florida, Division of Emergency Management to provide wind mitigation retrofit improvements on as many residential structures as possible during the period of performance of this agreement and within the award amount.

WIND MITIGATION IMPROVEMENTS – Approximately $216,690 is allocated for very-low, low, and moderate income households for repairs to their owner-occupied home. (RCMP funding may not be used for mobile home assistance.) Homes may qualify for up to a maximum of $25,000 in wind mitigation retrofit improvements.

*Applications are processed by first come, first served in the order in which income qualification is provided, as funding is available.

ELIGIBILITY:

1. Home must be within Calhoun County.
2. Income must be below 120% of median income adjusted for family size – see table below.
3. Units assisted must be owner occupied.
4. Mobile homes are not eligible for assistance.
5. All applications are processed on a first come, first served basis.

WIND RETROFIT MEASURES:

1. Installation of hurricane resistant windows, doors, skylights or shutters;
2. Strengthening of roof deck attachment, replacement of roof sheathing;
3. Installation of secondary water barrier, replacement of roof covering;
4. Gable end reinforcement;
5. Installation of hurricane straps or clips; and
6. Anchoring of wall or columns to foundation.

PROCEDURES – Calhoun County will develop a Scope of Work (SOW) for each property that must be approved by the State of Florida, Division of Emergency Management. The SOW shall be based on all the wind retrofit measures identified on the Property Information Sheet completed by a county representative.
