Aileen Ruth McQuagge, 94, of Blountstown, Florida, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014, in Blountstown.
Aileen was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, March 25, 1920, to Curtis Lamot and Ruth Devore (Hay) Fletcher. She retired as head of the English Department at West Palm Beach Junior College and she and her husband, Max, moved to Blountstown from West Palm Beach in 1984. Aileen was very active in community activities. She was a volunteer at Calhoun-Liberty Hospital and received the Volunteer of the Year Award. She was an active member of Blountstown Woman’s Club and Torreya Garden Club; a member of Calhoun County Retired Educator’s Association, a member of Eastern Star since she was 18 years old and was an active member of Eastern Star Blountstown Chapter 179. She was on the board of Senior Citizens for 22 years and was a member of Blountstown First Baptist Church.
Other than her parents and her husband, ‘Max’ Warren G. McQuagge, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen F. King and her brother, Curtis Lee Fletcher.
Survivors include her sister, Louise F. Hettler, of Port Washington, New York, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 25, in the Chapel at Adams Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 with Reverend Tom Stallworth officiating. Interment will be in Nettle Ridge Cemetery in Blountstown.
