Dorothy Ree Nowell, 73, of Wewahitchka, Florida, passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 13, 2009.

She was born in Nashville, Tennessee, April 2, 1936, relocated to Panama City, Florida in 1957, and has been a resident of Wewahitchka since 1983 where she retired from the Gulf County School Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie Mae and William Noah Hudgins; husband, Robert (Bob) Nowell; and a sister, Shirley Henry.

Survivors include a son, Robert E. Nowell II, and his wife, Vicky, of Wewahitchka; two daughters, Sylvia Edwards and her husband, Sam, of Clarksville, Florida, and Marilyn Causey and her husband, David, of Wewahitchka; three brothers, William, Jimmy, and J. T. Hudgins; two sisters, Rosie Green and Ruby Grant; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and special friends, Charlotte and Jerry Joiner.

Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 16, at Jehu Cemetery with Charlie Nowell officiating.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Covenant Hospice of Marianna, Florida, and Calhoun-Liberty Hospital in Blountstown. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, 4440 Lafayette Street, Suite C, Marianna, Florida 32446.
