The Honorable Kathy Brown, Liberty County Clerk of the Circuit Court, and the Honorable Carla Hand, Calhoun County Clerk of the Circuit Court, each recently completed 240 hours of initial New Clerk training to earn the FCCC Clerk Certification.
Clerks are required to have 240 hours of training for the initial certification. After the initial certification, Clerks are required to attend 36 additional hours per year to maintain their certification.
“This training was an invaluable process in preparing me for the duties I perform each day as Clerk. While I worked in a Clerk’s Office prior to becoming the elected Calhoun County Clerk, this training allowed me to learn about other areas and network with my fellow Clerks,” Clerk Hand said of the training.
Clerk Brown echoed that sentiment, “I have also worked in the Clerk’s Office for a number of years, but the Clerk has a variety of duties that encompass many unique challenges. I believe this training will serve me well in making the best decisions in serving the citizens of Liberty County.”
Clerks Brown and Hand began their New Clerk Academy training following their election as Clerk of Court in their respective counties in 2013. The training includes six, 40-hour weeks of training comprised of a well-rounded curriculum helping prepare Clerks to perform their duties. Topics for the training included: Technology, Finance, Administration, Records, Courts and other Clerk-related material. A wide variety of experienced speakers and presenters was provided during the extensive training.
