Benders take on Cooperstown, New York for 104-team tourney

The Benders travel ball team is taking on Cooperstown, New York, this week!

The Benders played two games on Sunday, defeating the Brighton Bulldogs from Illinois 29-5 and fell to the Hydropool Heaters from Canada 6-5 in 8 innings (regulation is 6 innings). On Monday, the Benders defeated Warren Blue Devils Gold from Illinois 18-10. As of press time Tuesday morning, the Benders were 2-1 with 3 more pool play games remaining. Single elimination tournament will begin Wednesday.

There are 104 teams in the tournament. J.T. Andrews of the Benders had hit 7 homeruns in 9 at bats as of Tuesday morning. The Cooperstown record is 18 in a week. Team members include (pictured above in the top left photo, front row, from left) Mason Smith (Panama City), Hayes Stills (Pelham, Ga), Trayce King (Altha), Javon Pride (Blountstown), Jace Porter (Grand Ridge), Grant Harrison (Tallahassee), (back row) Caleb Torbett (Marianna), Colton Mercer (Sneads), J.T. Andrews (Cairo, Ga), Matthew Snell (Skipperville, Al), and. Mac Danford (Grand Ridge). Manager is Frank King. Coaches are Adam Mercer, Randy Danford and Mitchell Porter.
