A Blountstown woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing from her employer.

Tamarah Rasmussen, 35, has been charged with grand theft.

According to the Marianna Police Department, Rasmussen was previously employed with the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. She is accused of making a $1529 car payment online in January using an electronic check drawn from the Chamber of Commerce account. In addition, she allegedly paid two car payments of $460 each back in September with Chamber funds. A $305 purchase was discovered at a hair salon using a Chamber of Commerce credit card.

Upon being questioned by authorities, Rasmussen allegedly stated the Chamber CEO had allowed her to make car payments, as well as the salon purchase, using Chamber funds.

The Chamber CEO position was held by two different people during the time period. Both denied ever allowing Rasmussen to use Chamber funds for personal expenses. One former CEO said a loan of $1000 had been extended to Rasmussen on one occasion and she was paying that back with payroll deductions.
