Lineul Lee ‘Len’ Wheetley, 77, of Quincy, Florida, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014 in Quincy.
Len was born April 24, 1937 to the late Floyd and Ethel (Seratt) Wheetley in Rives, Missouri. He was in the United States Army for eight years and he retired from the United States Air Force in 1986. He loved to serve his country and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He worked for Municipal Code Corporation in Tallahassee, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Fred and Murry Dean Wheetley.
He is survived by his wife, Bettsy (Tucker) Wheetley, of Quincy; three sons, Robert Wheetley and his wife, P. J., of Bristol, Florida, Todd Wheetley and his wife, Ellen, of Dothan, Alabama, and John Wheetley of Miami, Florida; his stepson, Aaron Jones, of North Carolina; his daughter, Robin Barfield, and her husband, Jarrad, of Altha, Florida; eight grandchildren; a sister, Cathy Horchar, and her husband, Bill, of Menifee, California; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
The family will receive friends from 8:00-9:00 a.m. CT, Saturday, July 12, at Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown, Florida. The funeral will follow in the Chapel at 9:00 a.m. CT. Interment will be in Lake Mystic Cemetery in Bristol with military honors.
