Permission slips are going home with Calhoun County school students this week as the health department prepares to order the swine flu vaccine.
According to Dr. Eugene Charbonneau, Calhoun County Health Department Director, 100 doses of the nasal mist vaccine are in stock now for first responders - law enforcement officers, EMS workers, and firefighters. An order for the shot to offer to all local students will be placed once permission slips are returned.
The swine flu is expected to peak by the end of this month and health officials are preparing. Watch the paper for details on when the vaccine will be available to the public.
