Blountstown Middle School’s football team stands 4-0 after defeating Wewahitchka 28-0 last Tuesday at Bowles Field.

The Tigers were led in scoring by Javakiel Brigham with three touchdowns. The first touchdown came in the first quarter on a three yard run by Brigham which was set up by a long run by Anthony Jones. Jones added the two point conversion to make the score Tigers 8, Gators 0.

Later in the first quarter Brigham caught a pass from Hunter Jordan and zig zagged 40 yards for his second touchdown of the quarter. The conversion attempt failed and the Tigers led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Anthony Jones scored his first touchdown of the game on a two yard run which was set up by a 40 yard run by Corin Peterson. Another Jordan to Brigham pass ended the scoring in the first half.

The reserves played very well in the second half, but could not dent the scoreboard. In the fifth quarter, Fabian Solomon and Austin Britt combined to move the ball for the Tigers with Solomon rushing in for the touchdown. Tripp Taylor ran the ball across the goal line for the two point conversion.

The Tigers opened their season on September 15th with a 50-22 victory over the Franklin County Seahawks. Hunter Jordan threw two touchdown passes, one each to Tanner Peacock and Tripp Taylor. Jordan, Anthony Jones, and Shon Peterson added rushing touchdowns and Javakiel Brigham had a punt return and kickoff return for touchdowns.

On September 22nd, the Tolar Bulldogs came calling to Bowles Field and fell to the Tigers, 44-0. Anthony Jones scored the first and last touchdowns of the night for BMS with Javakiel Brigham catching two touchdown passes from Hunter Jordan and adding a third on a short run. Hunter Jordan also added a touchdown for the Tigers.

The Tigers traveled to Port St. Joe on September 29th for a showdown with the St. Joe Sharks who came into the game undefeated. After a scoreless first quarter, Javakiel Brigham broke loose on a determined 35 yard run for a touchdown. Late in the quarter the defense put on a goal line stand to keep the Sharks out of the endzone and preserve a 6-0 score at the half.

Taking the second half kickoff, Hunter Jordan found Javakiel Brigham behind the entire Shark secondary for a 60 yard touchdown to extend the Tiger lead to 14-0 which stood until the fourth quarter. At that time Anthony Jones broke loose from 40 yards to make the score 22-0 and Brigham added a 25 yard run to close out the scoring in a 30-0 win.

BMS concludes the regular season on Tuesday at Grand Ridge in a 6:00 game. The Conference Championship game is scheduled for October 20th at Chipley with BMS Tigers battling it out with the Roulhac Titans. That game will start at the conclusion of the second seed battle between Bonifay Middle and Port St. Joe which will begin at 5:00.
