Vernon High Principal extends appreciation to BHS Lady Tigers
Brian Riviere, Vernon High School Principal, requested that Mr. Ralph Yoder, Superintendent of Calhoun County Schools, extend his appreciation to the BHS softball team and BHS coaches for the spirit in which they greeted the VHS softball team as they arrived to the BHS Softball Field on March 18th.
The Vernon team arrived to the field and found a large banner, planned and created by the BHS softball players, displayed on the dug-out. The banner was decorated in the VHS colors and embellished with the Vernon mascot. It read, “Team Andrea.”
The girls also wore blue ribbons in their hair to show support for the Vernon player. Andrea recently suffered a heartbreaking injury in which she lost the lower half of her leg.
When asked about the banner, the girls said that they just wanted to express their concern for Andrea, her teammates and her family. The girls acted on their own in this very moving show of compassion. Coach Johnson is very proud of his team and told them that this gesture showed what great people they are.
Mr. Yoder requested that BHS Principal, Dr. Debbie Williams, pass his thanks to whoever was responsible for this gesture of kindness and sportsmanship.
Dr. Williams is very pleased to acknowledge the BHS softball team members for their great expression of compassion and character.
