The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating allegations that a female inmate engaged in sexual activity with a Liberty County Sheriff’s Office investigator while housed at the Liberty County Jail.
According to Sheriff Glenn Kimbrel, a female inmate came forward last Tuesday alleging that another female inmate and the investigator had inappropriate contact. “It was something she felt I needed to know,” Sheriff Kimbrel tells The County Record, stressing that nothing has been confirmed.
Sheriff Kimbrel has moved the inmate to another facility and asked the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to look into the allegations.
“We don’t want anything happening that should not be happening,” Sheriff Kimbrel stated.
Liberty County Sheriff Nick Finch told The County Record Sheriff Kimbrel mentioned it to him last week, but the LCSO had not opened an internal investigation at that time. He had no knowledge of FDLE being involved. He was unavailable Tuesday at press time.
