Mrs. Martha H. Smith, 87, of Blountstown, FL, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at her home.
Martha was born on February 3, 1927, in Houston County, AL, and had lived in Blountstown since 1968, coming from Slocomb, AL. Martha was a truly loving mother and grandmother to her children, grandchildren and family. She loved cooking, quilting, gardening and taking care of her family. Martha was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Slocomb, AL and attended Gateway Baptist Church in Blountstown.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ollie Smith; a son, Jimmy Smith; a grandson, Randy Lee Hughes; a brother, J.T. Hodges; and a sister, Mary Sue Brackin.
Survivors include four sons, Glenn Smith and his wife, June, of Altha, FL, Tommy Smith of Perry, GA, Terry Smith and his wife, Terri Lynn, of Kinard, FL, and Johnny Rex Smith and his wife, Liz, of Lucedale, MS; one daughter, Virginia Hughes, and her husband, Roy, of Hartford, AL; one sister, Viletta Sebastian, of Winter Haven, FL; 11 grandchildren, Glenda, James, Mark, Aaron, Melody, Shannon, Stephen, Malcolm, Taylor, Sean, and Cy; 17 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Brittnay, Marlena, Sebastian, Wesley, Parker, Julian, Jenny, Anna Rose, Shelby, Garrett, Spencer, Bryton, Caroline, Cody, Shelby and Nicholas; special niece, Alice Cobb, of Dothan, AL; and a very special friend, Anna Welk, of Slocomb, AL.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 16, at 3:00 pm (CST) at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jim McIntosh officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Memorial Cemetery in Blountstown. The family will receive friends Sunday, February, 16, from 2:00 pm until service time at 3:00 pm (CST) at Peavy Funeral Home.
