Mrs. Dorothy P. Summers, 87, of Bristol, FL, passed away Wednesday January 15, 2014, in Blountstown, FL.
Dorothy was born in Geneva, AL, and had lived in Bristol for over 40 years, coming from Blountstown.
She retired from the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office as a dispatcher. Dorothy was a 1944 graduate of Blountstown High School and was of the Baptist Faith. She attended the Bristol Pentecostal Holiness Church in Bristol.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Susie Peak; husband, Bobby Summers; son, Phillip Nelson; and great-granddaughter, Rachael Phillips.
Survivors include her son, Bobbie Ray Summers, and his wife, Debbie, of Bristol; daughters, Catherine Reather of Marianna, FL, Susan Nelson Vinson and her husband, James, of Blountstown, Robin Dougherty of Bristol, and Claudia Bennett and her husband, Cecil, of Bristol; sister, Catherine Parrish, and her husband, James, of Chattanooga, TN; seven grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 18, at 10:00 am CST/11:00 am EST from the graveside at Lake Mystic Cemetery in Bristol with Reverend Coy Collins officiating. Interment followed.
