Evelyn Joyce Mullholand Benn of Altha, Florida, passed away November 16, 2013, at her home at the age of 79.

She was born December 26, 1933, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Daryl J. and Clara Arline (Lea) Mullholand. A graduate of Ohio State University, Joyce received her Master’s degree in Education from Florida Atlantic University. She resided and taught in West Palm Beach, Florida, for over 30 years.

Upon retiring to the Florida panhandle, Joyce was able to pursue her love of travel and enjoyed documenting her adventures through slides and scrapbooks. Musically gifted, she often shared her talents on piano, organ and accordion with family and friends. She published the book, My Dad, the Family Doctor: The Life and Times of D.J. Mullholand, M.D. She was an accomplished equestrian and loved caring for her three horses during her retirement years. She was an active member of American Quarter Horse Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars #7672 Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Port St. Joe, Florida, and State and National Retired Teachers Association.

Joyce was preceded in death by her son, John Douglas Saxby, and her husband, John Robert Benn, Sr.

She is survived by her daughter, June Annette (Saxby) Griffeth, and grandchildren, Bradley and Laney Griffeth of Dunwoody, Georgia; a brother, Boyd J. Mullholand, of St. Petersburg, Florida and his family.

Services will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA.org (American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).

Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown is in charge of the arrangements (phone 674-5449). Online condolences may be made at adamsfh.com.
