A jury of four women and two men delivered a unanimous not guilty verdict Thursday morning in the case of the State of Florida vs. Sheriff Nick Finch.
As previously reported, Finch, 50, was charged back in June with official misconduct and falsifying a public document. The case in question was a March 8 traffic stop by Dep. Jody Hoagland that resulted in an arrest for carrying a concealed firearm. Shortly after the suspect was booked into the Liberty County Jail, Finch allegedly released him. The man’s name was then removed from the jail log.
Less than 90 minutes after being charged by Judge William L. Gary, the jury returned with the not guilty verdict.
