Issues at the Calhoun County Airport on SR 71 North were on the table at the last two County Commission meetings.
Maxie Waldorff, who chairs the county’s Industrial Development Authority that supervises the airport, shared concerns over a hangar tenant known as The Jones Group. According to Waldorff, these aircraft mechanics broke numerous airport rules.
“I’ve got eight violations out of 15 items on the lease,” Waldorff told the board, adding that the tenants sometimes live in a hangar and let their dog run loose at the airport.
Waldorff advised the IDA board voted not to renew the Jones Group lease on three hangars they rent, but needed the commission’s approval.
