An Altha woman is accused of brandishing a Paula Deen kitchen knife and slicing her husband seven times Saturday afternoon.
Margaret June McCardle, 40, has been charged with domestic aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
According to the Altha Police Department, Chief Jimmy Baggett responded to a 911 call at an Oak Street home just before 6 p.m. He spotted Earnest “Dale” McCardle bleeding from his left arm with seven superficial cuts. Dale told Chief Baggett his wife arrived home from work two hours late, stepped out of her vehicle and was very agitated. He said she told him to get out of her house. Dale said he agreed to leave, but was taking their child. He said Margaret told him she would die before he took their child. When he entered the house, he said she cut him with the nine-inch knife.
Margaret denied cutting Dale, stating he did it to himself. However, Chief Baggett asked about the blood on her arm. Margaret, who was uninjured, allegedly responded, “I don’t have any blood on my arm!”
Neighbors reported hearing Dale yelling, “Stop! Don’t cut me!”
Margaret was taken into custody.
