A woman who worked less than a month as a jail nurse for the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office has stepped forward with allegations.
Jennifer Sanders Bailey, 29, of Hosford, is accusing the agency of discrimination after she was reportedly fired from her job. Bailey was briefly employed with the LCSO back in January and alleges she “became the target of harassing comments based on her gender” almost immediately after she was hired.
Bailey further alleges recently suspended Sheriff Nick Finch made sexual advances toward her on three occasions. Bailey is accusing Finch of touching her inappropriately and kissing her neck. Bailey alleges she has Facebook messages between her and Finch to back up her claims.
In a sworn statement, Bailey claims to have “immediately and fully rejected all the sheriff’s advances,” stating she was fired for doing so.
Bailey tells The County Record, “I have filed a wrongful termination, discrimination, and sexual harrassment lawsuit against the Sheriff of Liberty County, Nick Finch. This has been in the works for several months now. I can not comment in detail about the harrassment, but I can tell you that I do have 180 pages of Facebook messages from the Sheriff that date before and during and after my employment at the LCSO Jail that are clear intent to pursue a personal relationship which I denied.”
The allegations have been filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Bailey is reportedly being represented by Tallahassee Attorney Marie Mattox.
