John H. Roddenberry, 71, of Bristol, Florida, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013, in Marianna, Florida.
John was born in Citronelle, Florida, August 14, 1941, to the late Thomas and Katie N. (Hamilton) Roddenberry. He moved to Bristol in 1987 and was a member of Bristol Church of God. John was a retired upholsterer and he loved to fish and cook out with his family.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna E. (McCorkel) Roddenberry; sister, Edna Mae (Roddenberry) Baker; and brothers, Jimmy D. Roddenberry and William E. Roddenberry.
Survivors include his son, John R. (Pete) Roddenberry, Sr. and Terry Armstrong; daughters, Cherylyn D. (Roddenberry) Morgan and her husband, Fred J. (Jeff), and Katie E. (Roddenberry) O’Bryan and husband, Tommy, all of Marianna; ten grandchildren, Jeffery S. Morgan and Jennifur Bird, Kevin A. Calimach-Morgan and wife, Alexandra, Marissa E.(Morgan) Montano and husband, David S. (Scott), John R. Roddenberry, Jr. and Tiffany Ufret, Joshua Martinez, Jasmine N. Martinez, Meagan E. (O’Bryan) Sapp and husband, Joe, Alexandra D. L. O’Bryan, Ciara N. O’Bryan, and Kolby L. O’Bryan; nine great-grandchildren, Kaylyn E. Morgan, Fallyn B. Morgan, Lucas S. Montano, Amelia J. Montano, Lyric E. Roddenberry, Laralyn C. Morgan, Connor G. (Gabriel) Calimach-Morgan, Laila I. Martinez, and Joe Joe Sapp; eight siblings, James T. Roddenberry, Charles R. Roddenberry, Patsy K. (Roddenberry) Collett, Monte L. Roddenberry, Randall C. Roddenberry, Thomas Roddenberry, Joel D. (Buddy) Roddenberry, and Michael R. Roddenberry; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. EDT, Saturday, May 4, at Bristol Church of God with Reverend Terry Blackburn officiating. Interment followed in Lake Mystic Cemetery.
