The AHS Cross Country team traveled to Bay County this past Saturday to compete in the Bay Invitational held at H.G. Harders Park.
Coach Sewell stated it was a very HOT day as the races did not get underway until mid morning. Both the boys and girls team struggled with the heat and were a little off their times. Coach Sewell said, it was their first good lesson in learning to adapt to weather, different courses, and the importance of getting to bed on time.
The top five finishers for the girls were Mary Sewell: 26:02, Hannah Plazarin: 26:15, Rebekah Wiltse: 27:38, Kimi Wiltse: 29:07, and Sharlyn Smith: 30:40.
The top five finishers for the boys were Porter Smith: 22:17, Devin Ferrell: 22:43, Brett Floyd: 23:44, Ethan Ellis: 23:51, Tyler Hamilton: 25:03.
The girls finished 11th place out of 15 teams and the boys finished 17th out of 17 teams.
The AHS Cross Country team will be hosting their first home meet this Friday, October 2, at 3:00 pm at the Altha Area Recreation Complex. Teams in attendance are the Wewahitchka Gators and the Sharks from Port St Joe.
