Blountstown and Altha weight lifters returned home from the 1A state finals in Kissimmee over the weekend with medals in hand.
BHS’ Ryan Hathcox (pictured above, right) defended his title in the 183 lb. weight class, winning for the second straight year with a 715 total. He had a 390 bench and a 325 power clean. Senior De'Barus Colvin (above, left) came in 5th in the 139 lb. weight class. Also competing for BHS were first time qualifiers, Fabian Solomon in the 183 class and Cole Taylor in the heavyweight division.
Altha’s Ronnie Tucker (shown at right) had what his coach describes as “the best meet of his life.” Tucker brought home his second state title in the 129 lb.
weight class. Teammate Jordan Lawton came in runner up in the 119 class, while Trevor Wriston captured fourth place and Tristan Griffin placed sixth in their divisions. Check out this week's print edition for more details.
