Liberty County Commissioner Scott Phillips remains in critical condition following a serious ATV accident Thursday that nearly claimed his life.
According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Phillips, 35, of Hosford, and his son, Nathan, were injured when they were riding together on a four-wheeler and crashed on Carrabelle Highway just before 1:30 p.m. Rescue workers found Scott with a weak pulse and severe head injuries. Nathan’s injuries were less serious.
Scott was airlifted and Nathan taken by ambulance to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Although Nathan was treated and soon released, Scott remained in a medically induced coma at press time.
The accident was investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol. Both the LCSO and Liberty EMS assisted at the scene.
Our prayers are with Commissioner Phillips and his family.
