A Liberty County man who was in court Monday morning is now facing additional charges after fleeing authorities.
Brodrick Jarod Alls, 23, was apprehended in less than two hours and arrested for escape, fleeing and eluding.
According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Capt. Wes Harsey was assisting with courtroom security when Judge Jonathan Sjotrum revoked Alls’ bond stemming from new charges he had acquired. Alls proceeded to the main entrance of the courtroom and Capt. Harsey redirected him to the custody of Courtroom Baliff David Black who took Alls into custody. Alls turned around and handed his cell phone to his girlfriend, Crystal Michelle Bruce, then left the courtroom with Ofc. Black.
As he made his way out the inmate exit, Alls reportedly snatched away from Ofc. Black, fleeing down a flight of stairs to the parking lot where he proceeded to the west side of the courthouse. Ofc. Black and IT Specialist Jason Brock pursued on foot, then spotted Alls jump into the driver’s seat of a 1999 Honda that was already running. His girlfriend, Crystal Bruce, was in the passenger seat.
Alls’ vehicle was quickly intercepted by Dep. Darrell Johnson on SR 12 and a pursuit ensued until Alls’ vehicle ran out of gas just south of the Gadsden County line. Alls then jumped out of the car, fleeing on foot into a wooded area that had recently been logged. Dep. Johnson took Bruce into custody for her role in assisting Alls.
Meanwhile, the LCSO set up a perimeter around the area. K-9 teams from Liberty and Franklin Correctional Institution were called to assist in the search, along with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, the Florida Highway Patrol and Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office. Alls was apprehended by the Liberty CI K-9 team, with assistance from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, at 11:15 a.m., not far from where he fled and still in Liberty County.
The Liberty CI K-9 team was led by Sgt. Jamie Thomas and Capt. Timothy Brantley. LCSO team members assisting were Sheriff Nick Finch, Capt. Wes Harsey, Capt. Tim Partridge, Lt. Mark Mallory, Lt. Reggie Etheridge, Sgt. Jody Hoagland, Sgt. Bobby Revell, Dep. Darrell Johnson, Dep. Jonathan Gentry, Dep. Gary McGee and Dep. Josh Shepard.
