A Blountstown man was booked into the Calhoun County Jail Friday and held on a $10,000 bond for allegedly burglarizing a Hugh Creek residence.
Andrew Terrell Carter, 34, is charged with burglary of a conveyance.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, a caller reported someone was inside a home on Sheard Road just after 9 a.m. Friday after hearing banging noises coming from the premises.
Lt. Todd Wheetley responded and noticed a red Ford F-150 traveling at a high rate of speed on CR 69, coming from the direction of Sheard Road.
Lt. Wheetley recalled an event from earlier in the week when a truck fitting that description was spotted at the scene of another burglary. Lt. Wheetley tracked the vehicle to a residence on CR 69 and was met on the front porch by Carter. While speaking with Carter, he allegedly remarked, “I don’t need to go to jail for some scrap metal.”
Dep. Bobby Sims arrived on the scene as Carter continued speaking freely about taking items that were located in the bed of the F-150 truck.
However, Carter reportedly stated he had permission from the owner to be on the property. The owner was contacted, denied knowing Carter and said he did not have permission to be on the property or to remove anything from the premises.
Carter was then booked into the Calhoun County Jail.
