The county-wide 4-H Tropicana Speech Contest, for the elementary and middle school divisions, was held Monday evening, January 14, at the Calhoun County Library.
School winners from Altha Public School, Blountstown Elementary School, Blountstown Middle School and Carr School competed for the county honor.
In the elementary division, Carson Hatchett, from Blountstown Elementary, took first place. Carson competed last year at the county-wide contest as the BES winner and finished second. Summer Stone, Carr School, was awarded second place and Addison O'Bryan, Altha Public School, was third.
In the middle school division, Hannah Nickell, Blountstown Middle School, won first place. Second place went to Madison Boggs, Altha Public School, and third place was awarded to Terrell Hope, Carr School.
