The Blountstown Tigers celebrated a 58-43 win Friday over their rivals from across the river, the Liberty County Bulldogs.
The BHS gym was packed for the annual “Pink Game” with players, cheerleaders and fans decked out in pink to raise cancer awareness.
The enthusiasm was contagious as the Tigers came out battling. In the end, P.J. Iler led his team with 21 points. Ron Brown brought in 12 points and offered six assists. Brown and Roosevelt Martin each had four steals for the Tigers. Martin also chipped in eight points. Corin Peterson added six. Alex Wroblewski contributed four. Caleb Mills had two and Nathan Dunham provided one.
“We had a very good defensive effort,” says Coach Tony Davis. “We shared the ball. We played a very sound basketball game on a very emotional night.
The J.V. boys came out on top as well.
The BHS Tigers are ranked second in district action with their sights set on the playoffs. They are scheduled to travel to South Walton Thursday for a district matchup with J.V. at 4 p.m. and varsity at 7. Next up is a road trip to Port St. Joe Friday night. Game time is 5 p.m. for J.V., 6:30 for varsity.
