Over 18 acres burned and an abandoned mobile home was destroyed in a Liberty County blaze Friday afternoon.
Several homes were threatened as the fire spread off Hwy. 12 South in the Lola Minton Road and H & H Loop neighborhood in Bristol.
According to the Florida Division of Forestry, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Witnesses reported juveniles popping fireworks near the abandoned trailer, then fire was spotted about half an hour later.
Responding to the mid-afternoon blaze were firefighters from the Bristol, Hosford-Telogia, Rock Bluff, and Estiffanulga Fire Departments, along with the Florida Division of Forestry. Liberty County EMS and deputies from the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.
