Joseph “Bill” Abbott was born March 29, 1934, at Broad Branch in Calhoun County and was called home Sunday, December 30, 2012.

He was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County and was retired from the City of Blountstown. He was of the Protestant faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Acey and Martha (Adkins) Abbott; brothers, William Abbott and Johnny Abbott; sisters, Francis Taylor and Carrie Tucker.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Bonnie (Armstrong) Abbott; his son, Eddie Abbott, and his daughter-in-law, Doris, and granddaughter, Lela, all of Bonifay, Florida; a daughter, Rachel McCoy, and son-in-law, John McCoy, and grandson, John Boy McCoy; and great grandchildren, Lucas and Madison McCoy, all of Blountstown; a daughter, Tammy Moore, and son-in-law, Anthony Moore, of Altha, and four step-grandsons, Colton, Colby, Cameron and Cayson Moore of Tallahassee; sisters, Ida Silva of Apalachicola, Florida, and Lucy Abbott of Blountstown; a brother, Sonny Abbott, and his wife, Joanna Abbott, of Tallahassee; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, in the Chapel at Adams Funeral Home with Reverend Riley Adams officiating. Interment followed in Pine Memorial Cemetery near Blountstown.

Bonnie,Rachael,and Eddie,I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Bill.I knew him for years.He was such a nice man.My prayers are with all of you during this time.May God give all of you comfort....
