The rain didn’t keep the anglers away from the Apalachicola River over the weekend as the Big River Roundup Flathead Catfish Tournament was held.
The fishing got started Friday afternoon and continued through noon Saturday. After the last Flathead was weighed, Gene Smith (pictured) was named Flathead Catfish King with his 34.46 lb. catch. He took home a huge trophy and $2000 cash prize. Smith is pictured with Carson Pennington of Danny King’s Punch Bait.
