OBITUARY - Mercer

Thomas Melvin Mercer, 91, of Hosford, Florida, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012, in Tallahassee, Florida.
He was a native of Hosford and was a heavy equipment operator for C. W. Roberts for many years. He was a U. S. Army veteran who served in World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bristol, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Lamire and Della Jeanette (Duggar) Mercer; sisters, Charlotte McCallister, Lola Velma Spears, and Myrtice Evelyn Hobbs; a brother, Lewis Milton Mercer; and a brother-in-law, J. W. Larkins.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Mercer, of Hosford; sons, James Douglas Mercer and Terry Sterling Mercer and his wife, Linda Jean, all of Hosford; daughters, Linda Doreen Clark of Kentucky and Nancy Jean Mercer of Hosford; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Evilea Hall and her husband, James, of Tampa, Florida, and Lossie L. Larkins of Bristol.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. (ET), Friday, December 21, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Joe Shuler officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Creek Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. (ET) Friday at the church.
