Legion, VFW, & Lions salute soldiers on Memorial Day
Two events were held in Calhoun County over the past week to pay tribute to those who gave their lives for our country.
The Blountstown Lions Club hosted their annual flag ceremony on a rainy Friday morning in Magnolia Square. As shown above, flags were placed around the fountain as the names of fallen soldiers were read.
Monday morning brought a crowd to the lawn of the Calhoun County Courthouse for the annual VFW and American Legion Memorial Day ceremony. The Ladies Auxiliary from each organization presented wreaths in honor of the soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice. There were speeches, a gun salute, and other tributes.
Thanks to all those who took the time and effort to organize these events for our community.
