Child injured in ATV crash

A five-year-old Hosford boy is hospitalized in critical condition following an ATV accident Monday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the child, unidentified due to his age, was behind the wheel of a 2001 Kawasaki, northbound on Shadow Lane. For unknown reasons, the four-wheeler left the road, traveled onto the west shoulder and struck a tree, ejecting the child. The boy was not wearing a safety helmet.

The child was airlifted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

Cpl. Michael S. Cross, Sr. investigated the accident. Assisting FHP at the scene were Liberty County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Calhoun EMS.

they ought to outlaw these thing for kids. I saw two kids on the back of one the other day, riding up and down the ditch doing riding it danerously.
