Blountstown High School has already started gearing up to celebrate their 2012 homecoming which will take place the first week of October. This year, they have chosen to tie in the homecoming theme with the year of the Olympics!

BHS is pleased to announce the 2012 homecoming theme: “Team BHS: Going for the Gold!”

Starting off on Monday, we will have “Twin Day” where students will pair up and dress identical. To tie in with our Olympic theme, BHS will be hosting a torch run/community pep rally at 6:30 starting and ending at Bowles Field. We will begin our run/walk through town starting at the BHS football field with the BHS football team leading the way with the torch. Our route will take us down Charlie Johns Street to HWY 20, then left to HWY 71. From there we will head to BMS to come back to the football field. We invite all of the community to come out and join us in this community pep rally to kick off Homecoming week..

Tuesday will be “Beauty and the Geek Day.” The students will dress as either a beauty or a geek. Tuesday afternoon, at 1:30, our BHS Volleyball team will go head to head against Monroe. Students will be dismissed from class to support the team.

Wednesday will be “Pajama Day.” Students can show off their lazy and chill looks by coming to school in their PJs!
Thursday will be “Class Color Day.” Each grade will wear a specific color shirt to represent their class. That afternoon at 1 p.m. the students will gather in the auditorium for the annual Tiger’s Growl! We are sorry to say that only BHS students are invited to this event, as our new auditorium seats only 300. If you would like to buy a DVD of the event you may contact BHS the week after homecoming. On Thursday night, the community bonfire will take place at the new BHS campus. We will have free hotdogs, hamburgers, chips and sodas for all. We will light the bonfire at dark.

Please join us in roasting the Sneads Pirates!

Friday will be “Tiger Pride” day and the annual parade which will start at 12:45 p.m. this year. The parade route will be the same as last year (starting and ending at our new campus on HWY. 69).

We do not suggest that anyone try to walk the whole parade, instead only walk certain sections of the parade route. If you would like to be included in the parade, please call BHS at 674-5724 to sign up.

The crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen will be on the football field during the pre-game celebration at 6:25 p.m. on Friday night. The Homecoming football game will start at 7 p.m. against Sneads Pirates.

Please come out to cheer our Tigers on to victory! After the Homecoming game there will be a semi-formal Homecoming dance for BHS students in the new BHS gym sponsored by French Club and Journalism until 12 midnight.

We invite you, the community, to share in our Homecoming spirit! Join us as a member of Team BHS as we all go for the gold!
