A Blountstown man is being held without bond in the Calhoun County Jail for allegedly shooting into his brother’s Pine Street home.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, a man called 911 just before 11 p.m. last Tuesday night to report his brother, Darcy Bess, 41, had shot into his residence. Bess was headed toward Mason Road in a pickup. Deputy Jody Hoagland and BPD Cpl. Patrick Crawford pulled behind Bess as he drove up to his apartment. He reportedly smelled of alcohol and had two unspent 12 gauge shotgun shells in his pocket. A sawed off shotgun was spotted in the passenger seat of his vehicle, along with an unspent shell in the driver’s seat.
Witnesses allege the two brothers fought earlier, then Bess went to his brother’s home, walked to the driveway, and fired two shots into the house with people inside.
Bess has been charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a short-barrelled shotgun.
Kevin Jermaine Johnson, who was on the scene and failed to obey officer commands, was charged with resisting/ obstructing an officer without violence.
